Are labs good retrivers

Labs are some of the smartest, if not THE smartest dogs in the world. They are quick to teach and can be taught to retrieve in just a year. My neighbor has a 2 year old black lab that will retrieve ducks, geese, etc. He will also throw empty beverage cans away! They are excellant retrievers!

Retrievers are the best retrievers, but labs are just as good given the training. The difference is in the coat length, the retrievers can endure better temperatures, wheres the lab, with a shorter coat cannot. So go for a retriever for hunting but a Labrador for a home dog.

Yes they were bred to be, that's why they are called the Labrador Retriever it's in their instinct.
