No it is not. A martyr is someone who has been persecuted and died for refusing to renounce his faith in his religion, especially evident in Christianity. Many famous examples would be Peter, the disciple of Jesus, John the Baptist, and Polycarp. One famous quote by him was "Eighty and six years have I now serve Christ and He never did me any injury; how then can I blaspheme my King and my Savior." ( i think this is the correct one?). Therefore a martyr is not negative, but rather, i personally feel, a highly commendable person.

The concept of martyrdom itself is not inherently negative, as it can be seen as an act of sacrifice for a greater cause. However, the circumstances surrounding martyrdom, such as the reasons behind it or the impact it has on others, can sometimes be negative.
