A pantomime is the art of genre of conveying a story by bodily movements only. A Mime is an actor in a mime, or one who practices mime. A mime is also a short play without speech.

There is no "contraction." There is a short form or abbreviated form, which is "mime."
The two major schools of mime are Pantomime and Corporeal Mime. Pantomime substitutes speech with gestures, Slapstick, dancing and comedy can also be incorporated into performances. Corporeal Mime stresses the importance of body movement. The artist seeks to perform physical theatrical pieces that contain expression filled with metaphor.
