If you could get around the magma and drill through the solid core with your handset, you would unfortunately have to bring a landline phone with you to make a call. Radio signals are heavily attenuated (made weaker) when they pass through most solid objects, and with miles of solid (and molten!) rock between your cellular provider's tower and you, the strength of the signal would be completely washed out by background noise.
