Shark skin can be at least 1/8 inch thin and at least up to 1/4 inch thick. I may have seen half inch thickness in a mako, but, I am uncertain as we dissected it many years ago.

∙ 13y agoIt can hurt you because a shark's skin is like a carpet made of razors. If you look at a shaving razor, you'll notice how it has more than one blade. If you rub down it it wont cut you, but if you rub upwards, it will cut you. This is exactly how a sharks skin is.
