Usually are If same body styles. From different body styles I'd say no
Yes. They were all interchangeable. Other doos that will fit are from the same era (1973-1987) C10, C20, C30, K10, K20 and K30 trucks. Like Mailibu Barbie putting on Steelworker barbies clothes.
Replace the colum. these old trucks are bad about that, everyone grabs the steering wheel when they get in and applies undue pressure to the column. Eventually over time it will wear out and break, such as yours. The tilt wheel trucks were more prone to this than the stationary columns were.
1962 to 1999
Check stop light switch at top area or brake pedal - maybe damaged when column broken
Chevy did not use them on there trucks.
Most cars and trucks use a steering rack, 4x4 truck with solid front axles and commercial trucks, use reciprocating ball (steering boxes)
The rotation of the steering shaft drives the turning of the wheels, and buses and large trucks have wheels which are significantly more massive than cars' and light trucks', requiring more torque on the steering shaft to turn the wheels. The larger steering wheel gives a mechanical advantage in turning the steering shaft; a longer moment-arm from the application of force by the driver on the steering wheel results in a larger torque on the steering shaft from the same force applied.
Most are interchangeable, I used a Cherokee Steering Gear on my Wrangler. :) The numbers are on the top of the gear. If they match and/or if it looks exactly the same as yours, in every way, it will probably work on your vehicle. There were also some Light Toyota Trucks that had the same gears as the Cherokees' too.
I'm not for sure if it was in a Suburban, but I think it was. I do no Chevy did produce a 454 in 1985, in alot of trucks.
In the fuse panel to the left and below the steering column. The full size trucks have an issue with taillights. These taillights have a circuitboard on the backside of them. They have been known to go bad.
Cars and trucks do not interchange.
