A sunflower is a living thing. If you have a sunflower seed, that is the dormant state of the plant. The seed is actually an embryonic plant waiting to get out and see what the world is all about. At the proper time and temperature, with the help of a certain amount of light and nutrients, the plant will make its way up and out of the seed. There it will absorb light energy, soil nutrients and water, and eventually produce a flower. The sunflower ensures the next generation by producing seeds. And thus the circle is complete.
