Overall there is no real correlation. Tornadoes generally turn counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern, and in most regions tornadoes fall into the same strength range.

Is a tornado more violent going clockwise or counter-clock wise?

That depends on where the tornado is. Generally, tornadoes in the northern hemisphere rotate counterclockwise while those in the southern hemisphere rotate clockwise. There are more violent tornadoes in the horthern hemisphere, but that is mostly due to the fact that portions of the United States have an almost perfect setup for producing them. A small percentage of tornadoes rotate in the opposite direction from what is normal. These are called anticyclonic tornadoes (normal tornadoes are cyclonic). Many anticyclonic tornadoes are satellite tornadoes, and are generally weaker than the parent tornado that spawned them. Only one anticyclonic tornado has ever recieved a violent (F4 or F5) rating on the Fujita scale. It was an F4 that hit West Bend, Wisconsin on April 4, 1981.

What is one fourth of a rotation going counterclockwise?

What is stronger a 6 x 6 post or 3 2 x 6 bolted together?

It kind of depends on what you are doing and how you want the finished project to look. As a post with the weight or pressure straight down, it really doesn't make a lot of difference. Any side stress, 3 bolted together would always have more strength because of the different grains in the wood going in different directions. A single solid post can snap if there happens to be a flaw that runs all the way through it.

From what angle is the clockwise or counterclockwise motion of a ceiling fan judged?

It is assumed that you will be standing below it to determine the clockwise or counterclockwise direction. This is to avoid confusion when discussing the direction of the air due to the pitch on the blades. Since the pitch is fixed, the only variable left is the rotation direction of the blades.

Can a toilet spin water down going anticlockwise?

How do you remove a drill dit from a drill with a keyless chuck?

If you have the drill in your hand with the chuck away from you, if the rotation goes clockwise it is going forward and if it is counterclockwise it is going in reverse. When you use the drill you usually go forward. To remove the drill bit look for the reverse lever and once it is going counterclockwise place your hand on the front part of the chuck and the drill bit should be released.

Do planes only fly clockwise around the world?

Aircraft fly in the direction of their destination regardless which way around the world that may be. That's a trick question. To an observer standing at the North Pole, a plane flying east to west is going clockwise. To an observer standing at the South Pole, a plane flying west to east is going clockwise. And, of course, some planes fly over the poles. But if you only consider planes that are flying east/west, they are going both clockwise and counterclockwise, depending on which direction you are viewing them from.

Do the planets travel anti clockwise or clockwise?

Should a fan turn clockwise if there is no switch to make it?

Hello person with the fan rotation question.YES...an electric motor such as a floor/table/window/ceiling fan should always turn clockwise unless there is a design reason otherwise. If your fan is rotating counterclockwise you can change it by going into it and reversing the polarity. JUST BE SURE TO UNPLUG IT FIRST.
