Whatever additive you use it not going to solve your rough shift. At least not for long. Additives such as Tarns-x and Lucas could have a temporary effect on the shifting of the transmission, but your tranny is wearing out these additives can not keep it alive for too long.
By the way, a very common problem of a hard shifts is a bad motor mount. It is a very likely cause and much cheaper to repair. Have someone very its not your case.

maybe someone put a shift kit in the tranny.
check transmission fluid level first. one of the shift sensors needs replacing you need to read codes to find out what is problem
Check the motor mounts. If rough when going from Park to reverse or even when in drive it's possible broken mount is the reason. Had same issue and replaced mounts and no more problems
Your trans fluid could be low or your trans is on it's way out the door. Some cars, reverse is the first to go.Good luck.If the fluid is not low, drop the pan replace the filter and put a trans additive in when you fill it up after the trans service. The best additive is called trans-x.
There are tiny bearings and gears that make the trans shift smoothly and keep it in the right gear and when they go bad your car can develop a rough shift slipage and even trans failure
One possibility is that your valve body in the automatic transmission needs to be rebuilt, or replaced. It's best to have it taken care of as soon as possible, because you may end up losing gears. Shift changes may become rough, or the transmission may not shift in or out of gears.
Yes, the tps signal is sent to your ecu. the ecu decides when to activate your transmission shift solenoids. if the tps is sending the wrong signal, then the ecu is giving the signal at the wrong time causing a hard shift.
It retards / slows the timing up and makes the transmission shift hard. The engine has to be running right for the transmission to work right. It would really help to know the year. There could be other problems depending on the year.
