I wouldn't say either is better. they both have their pros and cons:
Cage Pros-
Good ventilation
More variety (ex. add ons and built in levels)
Cons-
Hamsters enjoy gnawing on the bars
They are also escape artist so bars that are bendable and wide arent good.
Aquarium Pros-
No escaping unless it un covered
Cons-
poor ventilation

NO!!! it will die. don't do it get a hamster cage its the best thing u can get some for a fiver or tenner.

Put them in a stinking fish aquarium. those stupid little escape artists will escape the cruddy little wire ones. i had 6 hamsters every one in a wire hamster cage escaped.

Yes, you can use a fish tank as hamster cage and it works really well ~ better than some of the wire cages because there is no chance of the hamster's feet getting caught in the wire. The tanks are easy to clean and provide a lot of room for a wheel and toys for your hamsters. Just make sure to get the wire lids that are made for the tank and tank clips if your wheel or toys are very tall.

if it doesnt have thin tunnels then yes... i think lol NO NO NO!!!!!! hamster cages are TOTALLY unsuitable for mice as they have calapsible rib cages. A suitable cage is a fully plastic cage with NO bars. Or a fish tank with a decent lid- hope this helps

Fish tank if it is properly taken care of. It also does not stink. Water may spill from time to time, but small amounts of fresh water is usually no harm. It all comes down to what you deal with better. Do you enjoy water and observation, or do you enjoy dry and interaction.

Robo hamsters are too small for that kind of a cage... they can squeeze through the bars. It would like it, yes, but my sisters mouse (same size as these hamsters) had a cage like that and was trying to get through the bars and suffocated. For my robo hamsters I use a huge fish tank which they like fine

I have a teddy bear hamster and he is such a sweetie!!! I personally would say teddy bears are very nice and could easily be the nicest ones!!! I had a few dwarf hamster, and even though sometimes they can be a little snippy, they are usually pretty nice.
