It can happen but most of the time not.
Yes They Are Just Look At "Hercule" The Biggest Dog In The World He's A English Mastiff
Irish Wolfhond
I may say that the "English Mastiff" is the only domesticated dog that's bigger than a "Rottweiler". I am pretty sure that if the Rottweiler and the English Mastiff fought, of course the English Mastiff will win because English Mastiff's are heavy and if the English Mastiff fought the Rottweiler, I am sure that the English Mastiff with squish the Rottweiler to death.

Largest is the English Mastiff, tallest is Irish Wolfhound.
There is no current World's Largest Dog listed in the Guinness Book of Records. However, back in 1989 Zorba, an English Mastiff, tipped the scales at 343lbs and made it into the Guinness Book of Records. The English Mastiff is the largest breed of dog and the Irish Wolfhound the longest. In 2001, Joe Flynn's English Mastiff, Hercules, made the record book for heaviest dog at 282lbs. Gibson is the current longest dog at 8 feet and 3 inches.
Largest? How are you measuring? Height would probably be the Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound) or an Irish Deerhound. Weight is the English Mastiff (including one at 328 lbs). The heaviest dog/canine is the Old English Mastiff (correct name Mastiff, but commonley still called English Mastiff or Old English Mastiff ). This is the world record holder for the heaviest dog and is the heaviest dog according to the breed standard (but other large breeds could out-weigh a small Mastiff!! The current world record for the tallest dog is held by a Great Dane, at 42.2 or 107cm at the shoulder, that's 7 ft tall when he's stood on his hind legs. Even at this height he is 170lb in weight, which is less than your average male Mastiff. But, (not including the record holder) according to breed standards the Irish Wolfhound is the tallest dog. The SCOTTISH Deerhound or Russian Wolfhound arn't as tall as Irish wolfhound. No domestic dog ( wethher its the Irish wolfhound/deerhound, Old English mastiff or great dane) is larger than the Largest timber wolf. This wolf was 7'11 tall on its hind legs and 8'9 from nose to tail also 43.5 inches at the shoulder, no dog has ever been recored that large.
The biggest dog is an English mastiff and it's 27.5 inches shoulder height, and a male can weigh up to 250 pounds.
Yes. The Scottish Deerhound, they average to be about two inches taller than the average great dane, Even though the worlds tallest dog (Gibson, the 44' tall harlequin great Dane) is a Great dane.
