∙ 9y agoYes, a religion is a system of beliefs. Atheists will deny it to their graves that it isn't though. When people say "Saying atheism is a religion is like calling bald a hair colour", they are wrong. A better analogy is that calling atheism a religion is like calling bald a hairstyle.

Atheism is not a religion - religions require a deity and/or a unifying philosophy and an organization. Atheism has neither. The only "belief" or philosophy is the realization that there is no god or gods. There is no organization to atheism, they don't meet, have a code of practice or even a secret handshake.
Other things that atheists don't do that religions seem to have are:
- there is no seeking out of converts
- there are no churches or temples
- there is no priesthood
- there is no tithing or voluntary taxation
- there are no celebrations except for human events
- there are no mindless tent meetings and evangelists
