Orthodox Jews do not eat meat from pigs as trichinosis ran rampant at the time of the writing of the First Five Books of Moishe also known as The Pentateuch. To protect their people from this deadly disease, Rabbis banned pork from the Jewish diet, bacon is made from pigs therefore bacon is NOT kosher. []

There are two commercial options for kosher bacon alternatives:

1. Soy fake bacon - the issue with these products is that they're normally kosher-dairy.

2. Beef fry - there are a number of brands of beef fry, some are better than others. The really good ones taste almost the same as the real thing.

Unfortunately, there aren't any kosher certified turkey bacon options at this time.

Is macon kosher?

If the question refers to Macon, Georgia . . . places are neither kosher nor unkosher. If the question refers to bacon, then the answer is no. The pig is a non-kosher animal; nothing can be done to any part of it to render it kosher. Just like rabbit, camel, horse, many others.

Does Bacos contain bacon?

While there are a lot of brands of bacon bits (using real bacon flavor), the "classic" Betty Crocker brand is made of soy, (and no MSG, if it bothers you). It's a great way for vegetarians and kosher-eating people to have a "bacon-like" experience.

Why can Jews not eat bacon?

In order for a land animal to be considered fit for eating, according to the laws of kashrut, it has to have both split hooves and chew its cud. Since pigs don't meet this requirement, they are not considered a valid food animal.

Are cheeseburgers Kosher?

As a general rule No. Although there are a handful of franchises in the world (mostly in Israel) that are fully kosher. - - - - - Leviticus 3:8 says not to eat pigs because they don't chew the cud. Burger King serves bacon and sausage. Deuteronomy 14:21 says not to mix meat and milk products--and Burger King's menu is about half cheeseburgers. Utensils used to prepare non-Kosher foods can't be used for Kosher ones. And IIRC Kosher foods have to be prepared by Jews. But the bacon and cheeseburgers alone are enough to make BK unkosher. __________ Kosher food doesn't have to be prepared by Jews. You'd have to go to Israel to have kosher Burger King though. Costa Rica has one Kosher Burger King also. See related links (that's my rabbi in the story)
