Being a film director is fun, but it can be incredibly scary at the same time. The job of a film director is really a glorified project manager. One has to brief in a number of service providers in order to execute a vision. That vision may be your own, and it may be someone else's like the ad agency, scriptwriter, producers etc. The most important part is to make sure that everyone who is providing their expertise on set is executing the way you have briefed the job out, that includes the director of Photography, the art director, the actors etc. Once the on set part of the project is "in the can" then the "fun" begins... You now get to see how well or how badly you were able to get the job executed. The term "we will fix it in post" applies to badly executed jobs. As a director if you aren't able to initially brief the vision out clearly you quickly become the corrector, if this doesn't work you become the tea boy!
