Definitely not. There are no genetic determinations for pedophilia. It cannot be passed on to offspring.

AnswerThe jury is still out on that one, just as it is as to why some people are gay. Is it genetics or a choice? My own personal opinion is it can be both and here is why:

If a baby can be born blind, both sexes (male/female), no arms, etc., then why can't a person be born in the wrong body. It's about chemistry and that drifts into genetics and there you have it. Why can't a male have more female hormones at birth or vice-versa? They can and here's proof:

I can't remember the name of those born with both female/male sex organs, but I have been reading up a lot on it and it's a shame this ever happened to the parents and the child. The parents did the best they could and when the doctor asked them if they wanted a boy or girl and the parents made the choice; the doctor then operated on the child and either made the baby a boy or girl. Of course the child had no choice in this as they were only babes. Now the problem is, there are women in men's bodies and vice-versa and they don't fit their genetic make-up. It's very sad indeed.

Then there are children up into their teens that have been coerced into a sexual arrangement with a gay person and thus, they feel they are gay. Still, most gays I feel are born this way.

Since there is so little known about pedophilia, the only answer out there is it's like having Alcoholism in your family or Diabetes. It can skip a generation or several generations. In most cases the other siblings generally are not the same and have no inclination of such. Pedophilia is a difficult thing to deal with in a family because society has little patience with anyone that is. Not understanding something breeds fear. Still, it's all of our duties to ALWAYS protect children so there is no recourse, but to protect children and keep the pedophile away from the children in the family (or at least never leave the child alone with the pedophile.) It really does split families up. There is no cure for pedophiles, but there are drugs that reduce the libido dramatically, but that is still not 100% effective. Castration would do little either. Psychiatrists are realizing that it is more about control on the pedophiles part (children can be impressed more) and pedophiles have very low self esteem. It isn't entirely about sex and believe it or not most pedophiles are into touchy feely and not the actual sex act (although there are a few.)

If it's your parent then I wouldn't fret about becoming a pedophile. Here are some signs:

A loner Does not fit into society in any form Appears to be very immature for their age (24 years old and acts like a 13 year old.) Either feels they have to have the stamp of approval by an adult sexual partner that they are the best lovers, or, they prefer to stay away from adults and impress the children. Masturbates often (more than normal) and needs to be sexually turned on by pictures of children, women, and even men. Society fears the pedophile because we just don't understand what makes them this way and since there is no cure we have no other alternative but to report a pedophile to the law, or, keep them away from children. I say again, if there are children in the family this will make the pedophile unwanted and they will be considered the black sheep of the family.

I am sure you are just fine. Try not to worry about it too much and if you really need to know I suggest you seek psychiatric counseling and get the information from the horse's mouth ... the psychiatrist.
