Blood consists of a variety of cells. These cells can be either alive or dead. So, to simplify, blood could be categorized as an organic substance. That said, there is wide agreement among physicians and scientists that blood in the body is living material and is in fact one of the organs in your body, just like your brain or stomach or skin. It is made of cells and fluids and performs specific functions just like all the other organs. It is, of course, the only organ that is capable of moving around your body and visiting all the other organs.
It can't because it is NOT a living organism.
