no butter is not an acid it is made of fat, it is made from high fat milk -lola5597
Rancid butter is acidic. The breakdown of fats in butter that causes it to go rancid can produce free fatty acids, which have acidic properties.
It's an acid.
butter is bad on acid reflux so are most sugary desserts and things with a high concentration of butter in them
Yes it contains Lactic acid. You can taste it.
no not really but you shouldn't really have rotten things
I think it is an acid but you will have to check on that
Butter has a pH level around 6.1 to 6.4, making it slightly acidic. This acidity helps to preserve the butter and protect it from spoilage.
The pH level of cashew butter typically ranges between 5.5 and 6.5, making it slightly acidic to neutral on the pH scale.
Yogurt is not a good substitute for butter in any recipe; yogurt is lower in fat, higher in liquid and far more acidic than butter. These qualities make it very different to butter, hence it's not a good substitute.
My guess, knowing something about the diary butter making process (charning acidified milk = buttermilk) is that the pH is somewhat lower than 5, not neutral anyhow, but slightly acid, though you can't taste it in the 15% water phase. pH in the 85% fat phase is not an issue because pH is defined for aquous solutions and acids do NOT ionise or protolyse in fat (hydrophobic). When butter becomes old and rancid the pH gets lower and is tastable!
Clarified butter, also known as ghee, is generally considered to be slightly alkaline. While it is a fat, it does not contain significant amounts of acids that would make it acidic. Its pH can vary based on the method of preparation, but it is typically neutral to alkaline in nature.
I'm sure it's acidic, I think it is. :)gay
