All fruit is acidic, some more than others. On the pH scale, some fruits are more acidic than others. The lower the number, the more acidic. A lemon is about a 2 on the pH scale, which is very acidic. Cantaloupe, and most melons, are about a 6.5 to a 6.6, more in the mid range. So, yes, it is acidic, but not nearly as acidic many other fruits! Even strawberries are about a 3 on the pH scale. As far as fruit goes, cantaloupe is fairly safe to eat if you are trying to avoid more acidic foods. And it's yummy

No Cantaloupe is a melon species Cucurbitaceae originally cultivated by the Egyptians.

Cantaloupe falls at about 6.5 to 6.6 on the pH scale. For reference, a lemon is about a 2 (very acidic). Cantaloupe, and most other melons, are not nearly as acidic as citrus fruits.

Yes, cantaloupes contain citric acid. However, it is a relatively low amount, compared to many other fruits. It is 0.3g/100g.

A lemon, for contrast, has more: 4.5g/100g, and a banana has less: 0.2g/100g.

In a study run by the Department of Food Science, at Oregon State University, determined that the pH of cantaloupe flesh is between 6.34 - 6.83 which means it is slightly acidic. If the rind was kept on during cantaloupe juice processing, the pH drops slightly to 6.10 - 6.52.
