Is cayenne pepper harmful to dogs?
Anything can be harmful if not given in proper amounts... however, Cayenne Pepper is actually beneficial to dogs when administered properly. Cayenne Pepper: Perhaps the greatest natural stimulant known, Cayenne has been called the single greatest "driver" of other herbs. No other herb is quite in this class making it a must for all formulas. Simply said, when you need to get an herb to any location in the body cayenne reins supreme. The uses of cayenne are so numerous that it has been claimed "the single greatest herb." Some of the common uses are anal problems (to include hemorrhoids), heart attack, toothache, external bleeding, diphtheria, all sorts of eye conditions, wounds of all types, clearing the mucous membranes etc. Cayenne pepper is derived from the fruit berry of Capsicum annum, a tropical shrub. In folk medicine, it has been used for fevers, sore throats, respiratory infections, asthma, and digestive disturbances. Recent studies however, have shown that it can reduce the risk of developing arteriosclerosis by lowering blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Regions of the world where cayenne pepper is consumed regularly have shown much less incidence of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, one of its active ingredients, capsaicin, is effective in reducing pain (such as in arthritis) by acting as both an anti-inflammatory and a nerve blocking agent. Yes, but it might not work.. For dogs, try using vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the perimeter and between the rows and no more unwanted visitors. Their sense of smell is too sensitive and they will vacate the area. Repeat after rains as necessary.. For cats, they should only mess with your plant…s if they need to, either there is something in the plant that they need and you are not giving them, or if they are trapped inside and starving.. But if you really want to keep cats away, try spraying ammonia on the plant. This might attract the dogs though. Cats avoid their own urine. ( Full Answer )

Red Pepper is the name that the American Spice Trade Associationuses for all hot spices made from the ground fruit of plants thatproduce what we usually call "chili peppers." The generic term "RedPepper" can apply to a lot of different varieties of pepper, ormixtures thereof. You may have noticed th…at different brands have adifferent level of spice. Some manufacturers use the term Cayenne Pepper to refer to a hotterversion of that generic "Red Pepper" label. That's why you cansometimes find ground cayenne pepper in the grocery store labeledGround Red Pepper (Cayenne) or just Cayenne Pepper. Unfortunately, the exact ingredients of a bottle of Red Pepper *or*Cayenne Pepper are going to vary by manufacturer. To be fairthough, the same is true of a can of corn. Here are some other opinions from our community: . Red pepper is such a loose term, it's hard to be sure whatsomeone could mean, especially as usage varies from place to place. It often means a hot pepper such as cayenne. Paprika is also a redpepper, and in Britain, a red pepper would be a sweet redpepper. . Cayenne are peppers. They are really hot and cayenne powder isground dried cayenne pepper. . Chili Powder is a mix of chili pepper powder and other spiceslike cumin and garlic powder and sometimes other spices likecinnamon or nutmeg (no lie). But chili powder can be really hotdepending on the ratio and kind of chilies to other ingredients inthe mix. Also, paprika and cayenne can be components of chilipowder. . Regular red pepper is just used for culinary purposes like apizza seasoning. . Red peppers tend to be somewhat sweeter than greenpeppers. . Capsicum is the chemical in the hot peppers which make themhot. Capsicum is also used in topical pain creams to alleviatemuscle pain. However, cayenne peppers are better known as red hotchili peppers, so they shouldn't be the exact same thing. . A little hot. On the Scoville scale that measures the heat, cayenne peppers are rated on a wide range, depending upon the variety - 30,000 to 190,000. At 30,000 they may be considered medium on the scale - but the hottest cayenne peppers, the African variety at 190,000 are definitely hot.

In my experience that depends entirely on the dog, and what's on the lawn. If you left a juicy T-bone steak in the middle of your grass there's no amount of cayenne that'll keep 'em off. That said, I've have good luck with a jalapeno juice mixture sprayed along the edges of my yard.

No, it is not. Depending on the brand you buy, commercial chili powder may not contain a single fleck of cayenne. Commercial chili powder is frequently made up of a mixture of mild peppers and spices, including ancho and pasilla peppers, cumin, garlic, and oregano. To create a piquant savor in chili…, hot peppers like cayenne, jalapeño, and habanero need to be added separately. Read ingredient labels. You may find a chili powder with cayenne or dried jalapeño in it, but it will be in combination with the other above-mentioned ingredients. That's the nature of chili powder. ( Full Answer )

"About 19-23." Eh, I don't know about that one, Chuck... It would first of all depend on the size. I grow my own cayennesand even if i replicated the biggest one 19-23 times, it wouldMAYBE be at half a pound +. Personally, I doubt 19-23 peppers would equal one pound unless theywere REALLY big peppe…rs that were picked fresh when weighed andquite possibly wet. (These would have to be ridiculously huge, almost novelty size cayenne peppers.) I have 21 peppers at the moment that weight approx 4 oz. (1/4 lb.)though some are on the smaller side while others are much bigger. With that said, unless someone has hysterically large peppers, I'dexcept one would need at LEAST 40-50 individual peppers, if notmore (like 60-70). Then again, I'm sure the cayenne pepperspurchased in the store are MUCH bigger than the ones I grow (but ifyou're buying them at a store, why not just use their produce scaleto weigh out a pound and avoid all this confusion?) Hope this helps. ( Full Answer )
