What is the difference between cerebral palsy and autism?

Children with Cerebral Palsy have muscle control problems which may affect their speech and movement. Children with Autism have trouble with being able to look someone in the eyes and otherwise relate to the world outside themselves. Autism has nothing to do with muscle control problems. They are totally different conditions. Of course a child can have both conditions, but they are not the same thing.

One other thing, if Joe Cocker has cp, his parents would have know more than likely before his first birthday.

Why was cerebral palsy named cerebral palsy?

Answer:Cerebral refers to the Cerebrum, which is the affected area of the brain (although the disorder most likely involves connections between the cortex and other parts of the brain such as the cerebellum), and Palsy refers to disorder of movement....Hence the name Cerebral Palsy. In more simple terms Brain Disorder.(CP) is an umbrella term encompassing a group of non-progressive,non-contagious motor conditions that cause physical disability in human development.(CP) is divided into four major classifications to describe different movement impairments. These classifications also reflect the areas of the brain that are damaged. The four major classifications are:Spastic, Ataxic, Athetoid/dyskinetic and Hypotonic.
