dessert
it is a main desssert!
After the main course we had a sweet chocolate dessert.
Starter (hors d'oeuvre), main course (plat principal) and dessert. Typically, this might involve pâté to start with. a veal cutlet with a vegetable, and chocolate mousse to finish. Bread, of course, throughout.
A classic example of a three-course meal includes an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. For instance, you might start with a Caesar salad as the appetizer, followed by grilled salmon with asparagus for the main course, and finish with a chocolate mousse for dessert. Another example could be a tomato soup as the appetizer, roasted chicken with mashed potatoes as the main course, and apple pie for dessert. These combinations can vary widely based on cuisine and personal preferences.
The dessert mousse got its name from the French word "mousse," which means foam or froth. This name is derived from the light and airy texture of the dessert, which is achieved by incorporating whipped cream or egg whites into the base mixture. The term "mousse" is also used in other culinary contexts to describe dishes with a similar fluffy consistency.

Whatever you think is best for the occasion. Corn muffins are usually served with the main course; chocolate muffins are usually considered dessert.

That depends on how formal the meal is, and what sort of cuisine is being served. What type of food have you in mind - a main course or a dessert? If there are appetisers, the soup is the second course, if not, it is the first course..... so we're off to a confusing start already.
