Is it safe to take adderall while pregnant?

From what I gather from the research, no studies have been conducted with humans. When rats and rabbits were given high doses of Concerta (over the prescribed normal dosages) there were birth defects. Rats that were given 30 mg or less of concerta had normal offspring. HOWEVER, it is unclear if the rats were given this dosage daily... From what I can gather from speaking with doctors and other members of the medical profession - it is recommended that pregnant women should not take the drug during pregnancy. Concerta has been classified by the FDA as a drug to be avoided during pregnancy and that there are no human studies to substantiate a claim one way or another. I am pregnant and a PhD student and am struggling without my Concerta and am wondering if there are any alternatives? I have found some websites that suggest if the drawbacks outweight the potential risks, then continue taking the med, but I can't see the risk of birth defects outweighing 9 months of struggling through school. No, it works really well but there are a lot of side effects such as Dizzyness, increased anger, Shakiness,headaches,depression, suicidal thought,insomnia,STRONG stomach pain, and even sexual side effects
