It depends upon the person. Blacks have different types of hair ranging from 3a to 4b. (Google the hair type system to find your hair type.) I'm a mixture of 4a and some 3c and I used Smooth 'n Shine Curling Mousse today and it made my hair shiny and curly without being greasy. Really cheap stuff too, like $3 max. Hope you like it!

ok.... i have curly brown thick medium hair and i have the perfect style if its curly...(if not curl it use mousse and defuser..or curling iron) ok so the first thing ur do is wash ur hair once it clean and wet grab a chunk of hair from the middle of ur head..not too big though creating a bump not too bid though. grab a small clip..the smaller too fit ur needs the better and theres the first part. now grab some mousse, curling mousee works best(if u don't have mousse GET IT every good hairstyle NEEDS MOUSE!!!!) and the scrunch and shake until it looks some what culy and messy don't worry about the bump just leave it as is. And then let dry naturally. there u have it hope this helps i always do this and everywhere i go people always complement me!:D
