What is imperative theory of law?
The legal theory that laws should be made by a sovereign, and that by its definition law is the command of a sovereign, no one/thing else. The main exponant of the theory is Austin, although as a theory the imperative theory of law has been widely discredited, most notably by Hart. What did Charles Darwin not know about genetics?
Darwin would not have known anything about genetics, which is why his theory was discredited initially, there was no mechanism for random mutation currently understood. On the other hand, the scientific evidence of the time supported Lamarck's theories, which with new understanding have been more or less discredited (ignoring neo-lamarckism and similar theories) which did not require any undiscovered mechanisms.
How does spontaneous generation differ from the scientific theory of biogenesis?
The long discredited theory of spontaneous generation claimed that garbage, or organic matter in general, would spontaneously give rise to vermin such as flies and mice. The scientific theory is that vermin are species which reproduce, and while they may make use of garbage or organic matter as food, they do not magically appear out of those things.

What is The steady state theory of the Universe?
This was a theory that the Universe had lasted forever, would continue to last forever, and was essentially unchanged. When the red shift was found, it rapidly incorperated continuous creation (Hydrogen atoms supposedly) to fill in the new empty space. Evidence for the "big bang" finally discredited it. Note: the term "big bang" was invented by the suporters of the steady state theory to discredit the new, upstart theory.
