Danny Rollin, Florida's Gainsville Ripper decapitated at least one of his victims and set the head on a shelf in the victim's apartment, strategically placed so when police entered the severed head was the first thing they saw. Ted Bundy, unofficially known as the 'poster boy of serial murder' decapitated some of his victims and brought them home to his apartment in Seattle, WA. Jeffrey Dahmer decapitated most if not all of his many victims and made furniture and decorations from the heads and other body parts. At the time of his arrest there were heads in his refrigerator and freezer.

The typical serial killer follows phases or steps when committing their evil crimes. The possession of body parts as trophies is the key to some serial killers.

In 1979 between the last week of July and first week of October, in Houston, Texas four lives were extinguished by a killer who seemed bent on claiming human heads as trophies of the hunt.
