If you have a car made to use Dexron ATF, it is. (The other kind is Type F, which goes in old Fords, old Saabs and probably a couple other makes I don't know about.)

Dexron isn't a brand of ATF. It's the name GM gave to ATF meeting its specifications, so a lot of oil companies make it.

Is atf-z1 the same as dexronIII?

ATF Z-1 is not the same as Dexron III. Z-1 is a Honda specific fluid that is manufactured only for Honda transmissions. There are similarities in makeup of the two products, but the Dexron III will not meet the same performance criteria as the Z-1. Honda manufactures their own transmissions and for this reason, has developed their own ATF. For more information, contact your local Honda dealer.

What is the difference between AFT3 and AFT4 transmission fluid?

I think you mean ATF, (Automatic Transmission Fluid) Dexron is not a universal fluid. Chrysler four-speed automatics only use ATF+3 (ATF+4 for newer vehicles), regardless of what the dipstick or owner's manual says. Chrysler ATF+3 fluid is no longer the only fluid to use in a late model transmission. Chrysler TSB# 21-006-01 notes that all current vehicles only use ATF+4 type 9602, part 05013457AA (for quart bottles). The advantages of ATF+4 over ATF+3 include: Better anti-wear properties, Improved rust/corrosion prevention, Controls oxidation -Eliminates deposits, Controls friction, Anti-foaming, Superior low temperature operation: From what I have read ATF+3 is not synthetic but ATF+4 is synthetic. Use what your owners manual states or ask you local chrysler dealer, but do not under any circumstance use Dexron or a universal fluid.

What is the specific gravity of dex- tron?

First you have to find out who"Dex-tron"is. Dex-tron is really Dexron, an automatic transmission fluid created by General Motors (GM), GM has upgraded the Dexron specifications over the years; The most current fluid is Dexron-VI, introduced in 2005 along with their recently released Dexron brand gear oils. The brand name is commonly mispronounced as "Dex-tron" by many. What is the specific gravity of "dex-tron" or Dexron"? Remember water has a specific gravity of 1.Dexron (.8477@60*F) with water =1Dexron II (0.85@60°F)with water=1Dexron III (.8780@@60°F) with water=1DexronVI (.85 @60*F) with water =1So it looks like no matter what year and even what different ingredients mixed in over those years, Dexron had made, as long as it is kept within the correct limits, a product .85 to .8780 as dense as water. There is much more into it scientifically, but I just wanted to give you the base answer!ThanksCarrieFreedomDillon

Is a 2 liter engine good?

Without any other information, the answer would have to be of course it is good. There are quite possibly more cars with 2 litre engines than any other size, they wouldn't make so many unless they were good.

Better or not, really isn't the question. Dexron-II has been replaced by Dexron-III. Any transmission that used Dexron-II can now use Dexron-III. Fluids labeled Dexron-III/Mercon are also acceptable.
