Will the new digital signals be in both UHF and VHF?

Digital TV signals are transmitted on VHF starting on channel 2 and ending at the top of the UHF spectrum channel 69. At one time the plan was not to use the VHF band but it didn't work out that way.

How can you connect an antenna to uhf and vhf to get both uhf and vhf on tv at the same time?

First, you need an antenna that is both uhf and vhf comaptible. Usuaully it will have a pair of rabbit ears (vhf) and a center loop or plate (uhf). Make sure the rabbit ears are completely extended then just re-scan your channels on your digital box or your hdtv.

If you have a digital tv and an outdoor antennae do you need a converter box?

In the US the answer is probably not. Digital and analog TV broadcasts use the same frequencies and antennas. Digital TV is more fussy about signal quality than the older analog signals. So if you get marginal analog reception, figure on getting a new antenna for digital. The idea that there are special HDTV antennas is just marketing hype. Any antenna that gives you better digtial reception will also give you better digital reception.

Does digital broadcast tv have same reception range as analog?

Analog tv now uses mostly vhf-uhf frequencies for the standard network TV. UHF was added in the 60s for local urban TV signals with the addition of another tuner years ago. Any ham radio operator who has played with VHF 2 meters, or uhf , 450 mhz up, knows that UHF has significantly reduced range and is reduced to mostly line of site reception. So guess what sports fans, rural users , with their shiny new converter boxes hooked up to vhf antennas are SCREWED!!! Unless you get an extended range UHF antenna , you will not get TV. You may not get digital TV either if you are too far from UHF digital transmission even with a new uhf "digital' antenna. So, this whole thing is going to cause CHAOS to many rural and other users. Real good planning guys! Million of Americans will have no TV.....!!!!! Stay tuned for the fun on Feb 17, 2009!!@!!! The following is a update. Actually, there is no such thing as a digital antenna, all antennas are the same but a better antenna is one with a amplifier built in and mounted on the antenna itself. This helps the HDTV receive a stronger signal. An exception would be if you can see the transmitting tower from you location, no amplifier is needed. Always buy the VHF/UHF antenna with highest gain you can mount.

How many miles does the hyt hytera pd782 digital portable two way radio?

It depends on the terrain, buildings, etc but the UHF PD782 I have used can access a repeater well over 15-20 miles away in digital with no problems. For simplex (no repeater) I have not tried that but you probably could get a mile to possibly a couple of miles again depending on the terrain, buildings, etc - much like what you would see with a UHF FM analog portable.

Which band of the electromagnetic spectrum has a frequency lower than microwaves?

What movie starred both Michael Richards and weird al yankovic?

Can you use your old uhf antenna to pick digital signal on a digital t v?

The answer to the questions depends on where you are. In the recent change to digital in the UK, many existing analog aerials work perfectly with the new service although others have had to be changed. Generally, in areas where the digital terrestrial service is using similar frequencies to the analog service and where there is good signal strength, the old aerial is likely to work. The results will vary between countries and even between areas. Try it and see if your aerial still does the job.

Will a rooftop antenna work with a digital converter box?

Short answer: Yes!Longer answer: Digital TV and Analog TV share much in common; they are both radio signals, and in the same bands -- in fact the channel number assignments for the physical channels are identical. Your rooftop antenna picks up the radio signal no matter what is encoded on it. It is up to the receiver (your converter box, f'r'instance) to make sense of what comes from that antenna. Select a VHF/UHF type.

What type of data does Bluetooth use?

Digital data sent over UHF radio frequencies.

Should you use UHF antenna with digital converter box or VHF?

You need a VHF/UHF antenna (channels 2 to 60 ). Check out: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/digitaltv.html
