If the dried paint is on the inside of a pyrex container and you cook something in it, it is possible that some of the paint might leech into the food. The fumes from appliance epoxy paint are highly toxic, and it is doubtful that any paint manufacturer would recommend that dried flakes of the paint be taken internally. There is a good possibilty that a small amount of the paint wouldn't hurt you. However, I would go by what my mother always said: "When in doubt, throw it out!" Or use it for a flower pot.
No. But it can be made into a composite by adding glass, carbon, or kevlar fibers, among other things.
Yes it is. Concrete has almost no tensile strength on its own, which is why some form of reinforcement is used. Generally re-bar, steel shake, or fiber glass is used to improve and reinforce concrete. Epoxy has a tensile strength of at least 2,400 psi. The compressive strength is almost 10,000 psi. pour yourself a glass of (water, oil, gasoline, turpentine, epoxy) and look at it.
There are 2 types of glass fibres- E-glass and S-glass. S-glass is chemically different,is stronger, more expensive and is only used in special applications in the aerospace industry. E-glass is most commonly used as a chopped strand mat, but fibreglass is also woven into a wide variety of cloths. Some of these are woven roving,double-bias, tri-axial, Quad-axial.Depending on the application, there are 4 types of resin used with fibreglass- polyester, vinylester, epoxy and phenolic. Fibreglass combined with resin is called fibre- reinforced plastic, or FRP.
The safest way to clean glass is with soap and water (leaves no residue). However, if this isn't working, use what is referred as a BASE BATH. This is usually, KOH dissolved in isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). You let it soak in an alkali solution for a little while (depends on how much gunk is on it) then make sure to wash it with soap and water again. Acid baths are sometimes used. But base baths work better on glass.
No, but is the dickens to get it off.
An epoxy will bond glass to metal.
Araldite will.
With epoxy.
Contact glue (impact glue)
The way to remove epoxy depends on where the epoxy is. If it is on the skin a person can use vinegar or acetone to remove the epoxy. If the epoxy is dried onto a surface a person can use paint thinner or adhesive remover to get rid of the epoxy.
Epoxy is best for gluing glass to wood.
Epoxy or silicone.
Glass Reinforced Epoxy
an epoxy surfboard is when a surfboard is made out of epoxy resin this is more stronger and lighter than the normal fiber glass and they can have more stronger colours than fiber glass this can be done without the silk laminating process
That is a great question!!!! Pyrex used to be a form of borosilicate glass which was and still is prized for its inert properties. Meaning it doesn't contaminate other chemicals or be contaminated easily . I guess the question is can you get it cleaned out of the toxic substance? The other problem is Pyrex brand kitchenware hasent been made of true pyrex for some time and is not as inert as it once was. Is it pre or post pyrex pyrex? Its hard to tell. The safest way to be safe is scap it unless your sure. David Custome Glass Maker/Caster
The epoxy resin that is mixed with it.
