Fat is an organic Macronutritient. The difference between a Macronutrient and Micronutrition is the size and structure of the molecules, and both contain organic molecules since organic substances are ANY substance that contains Carbon atoms. Macronutrients also provide calories and are needed in larger quantitites within the body for metabolic processes. Macronutrients include: Lipids (fats/oils/cholesterol) at 9 kcal/1gram, Carbohydrates (sugars/starches/fibers) at 4 kcal/1 gram, Proteins (Molecules with ) at 4 kcal/gram, and alcohol at 7 kcal/gram. Micronutrients consist of all other vitmamins/minerals/nutrients that are digested for metabolic purposes and are needed in much lesser quantities, they typically do not contain significant kilocalories however, they are an equally essential to the body and metabolism and act as molecules that transfer, help produce/store other nutrients, or are essential to processes of cell/tissue function and metabolic processes. There are also a 3rd class of nutrients called Trace Minerals which are needed in much smaller quantities than micronutrients and if consumed in excess may be toxic at lower levels, also (and more frequently than with Macro/Micro-nutrients) if we do not consume encough trace minerals we more easily develop deficiencies that results in symptoms/diseases/conditions that negatively affect our bodies and health unless corrected. Examples of trace minerals include Selenium (antioxidant), Copper, Manganese, Magnesium etc.

Micronutrients include Vitamins and Minerals. Calcium is a miconutrient but is a macromineral. Point Hill
