Neither, really. Most foods are not good conductors, but do conduct somewhat because they tend to contain ions in solution.

A good insulating container would keep both your hot food hot and your cold food cold. Containers made of conducting material would have quick transfer of heat between the inside and outside.

"Thermos" style containers have a double layer glass wall with air in between the layers to minimize the heat transfer.
