No, They are originated from the ''Kshatriya'' community ,as the koshtis were originally soldiers ,who fought in the army of the Peshwas and Tipu Sultan kingdoms. Commonly known as the Raghuvanshis or Kushwanshis, they have now adopted different occupations, mainly weaving and trading.
They commonly worship the Devi of Kolhapur or Badami. There are many sub-castes of Koshtis- The Devangan Koshtis, Gujjar Koshtis, Jain Koshtis, Lad Koshtis, Halba Koshtis, and Maratha Koshtis- are the common ones.
Update: NO, Halba Koshti Community now comes under SBC Category i.e. Special Backward Class.
