What does neutral mean?

Neutral means not invested in the success or failure of a particular national/political agenda, party or interest. A nation or an individual can also be known as being neutral in a more global sense, regardless of the interest at hand. Being neither positive or negative; not going forward or backwards. Not taking sides. Balanced.

Can acid and bases harm us?

Yes, if they are very strong. For example strong acid or base spilled on the skin can cause burns. On the other hand, the acid inside your stomach is strong enough to dissolve iron. The mucous on the stomach walls stops the acid burning right through the stomach.

What is the use of acid slurry in making soap?

The synthesis of soap, which is known to chemists as saponification, is done with fat, and bases such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH). It does not involve acid slurry. Although, if you were going to try this at home, it might be a good idea to keep some mild acid on hand to neutralize the base, if your reaction gets out of hand or spills on your skin while it is still at a very high pH level.

How do you carry a microscope?

You carry it with one hand on the base of the microscope and the other hand on the arm of the microscope. You must be careful with it too.

What is an everyday use for acids?

Sulfuric acid, H2SO4, is used in car batteries. Citric acid, or nitric acid, HNO3, is in lemon juice and citrus fruits, and it gives them their 'sour' taste. Acids can also be used to neutralize bases. For example, if you get a strong drain cleaner on your hand and it starts hurting, put something MILDLY acidic (NOT a strong acid such as battery acid!!!!) over the skin (eg. lemon juice) and the effects of the base should stop. Whilst bases are used for cleaning, bicarb soda and rust, acids are in formic acid (from ant bites), vinegar, natural acid rain and also hypochlorous acid (HClO, bleach).
