As a Life Member of both the National Rifle Association and the California Rifle & Pistol Association, it is my considered opinion that keeping a firearm under your bed with young children in the house probably IS "child endangerment". (I presume that the firearm is loaded; it would be useless if it were unloaded, but it would greatly reduce the risk to the children.)
I _STRONGLY_ recommend purchasing a gun safe for your handgun(s) and that you keep your long guns unloaded and safely stored.
A good handgun safe is relatively inexpensive, and is cheap insurance against the kids getting into your guns.
I further recommend that you look into the NRA's "Eddie Eagle" program that teaches children who find a gun to:
1. STOP.
2. DON'T TOUCH.
3. Leave the area.
4. Tell an adult.
The situation should be reported to the child protective services. The parent may need help and they need to be informed about child endangerment. Leaving small children under the care and supervision of a child is considered child endangerment in most jurisdictions and can result in the parent being declared unfit. The situation should be reported to the child protective services. Driving at speeds that exceed the legal speed limit always endangers children in the car. A pattern of driving at such speeds would likely be classified as child endangerment if it could be proved by such evidence as traffic violations.
Is a class b felony for child endangerment a violent crime
Depending on the type of snake and where it is compared to the child, it could be considered child endangerment if the snake is capable of attacking or harming the child.
Child endangerment in the fourth degree is the least harmful of all. This means that a person's acts caused harm to a child.
No. Child abuse is sexually exploiting the child, that is not happening here - she is just being exposed to it. Because she was not forced to watch it happen, she just walked in, it is not a case of either child abuse or endangerment.
...you go to jail
Because she had foreknowledge of it.
You will more than likely have Children's Services called on you and there will be an investigation. You could have your children removed from your home or you could be accused of child endangerment.
In KS, this would fall under the child endangerment law. There isn't another specific law yet about when, how long, how old, etc you can or can't leave a child in the car. But under child endangerment, the officer can arrest the caregiver and take the children into custody.
Most school systems have strict rules about children bringing medicine to school. It should be sent to the teacher with instructions. You should inquire at the school to determine the procedure in your school system. Child endangerment could be involved depending on the age of the child, type of medicine and how much was given to the child. Most school systems have strict rules about children bringing medicine to school.
