I am not a lawyer but I would think no, indeed a leave of absence would probably be a red flag to the visa officer. A leave of absence clearly demonstrates your intent to come back to Canada for that very job. In other words you are looking to build up a permanent existence in Canada, whereas an authorized stay is only for a temporary period after which you are expected to move back to your country of origin permanently.
