The idea of being born again comes to us through out the Scriptures but the most direct place this is spoken of is the Gospel according to John chapter 3 verses 3 through 8. It is Jesus speaking to one of Israel's most predominate Teachers (and a member of the Sanhedrin, a body of 70 leaders who gather to discuss the law and judgment). Jesus tells Nicodemus that if anybody wants to see the Kingdom of God (that is be gain eternal life and be let into Heaven) that they must be born of the Holy Spirit, because as an offspring of the first Adam, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Roman's 3:23). The wages or payment due for that sin (even just a not so serious one, because God is pure Holiness) is death, and by this death is meant eternal separation from the presence and provision of God (which is called Hell or the place of eternal torment). The torment is worsened by the undeniable recognition that ultimately we chose to go there. We rejected God, what He would provide, insisting on being the lord of our own life…And even tho we were told about the way to escape His just judgment and the penalty of our sin (Hell forever) we rejected the solution He offered, so that we would not have to go there (the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son, Messiah Y'shua or Jesus see Isaiah 53 and Zechariah 12:10). Jesus is not a problem as some would view Him and cause you to think, He is the solution to the problem…we are already condemned…we are already going to hell for the sins we committed…but the Father is grieved over every sinner that enters into condemnation (Ezekiel 19). Why? Because he/she did not have to…You do not have to…God so loves YOU that He gave His Son to take the penalty for you…YOU are going to Hell… Be born again read these verses and find a Bible believing minister or contact UCFM and follow their direction…Roman's 6:23 and Acts 2:37-38 Finally to say "born again Christian" is a redundancy because the only real Christians are those who have been born of the Spirit and the Word and only those who are born of His Spirit are His children (all people are NOT the children of God, some are the children of Belial). For the first 1700 years to be a Christian was to belong to the Universal Faith (catholic small c) and was to be born of the Spirit. To have saving Faith is this…you will believe God not just in Him…you will take Him at His word and not stagger at His promises…the word "believe" in English Bible's is the idea "to faithe" it is the verb form of the word Faith (Pistis in Greek). So to pisteuo (believe) IS TO be actively Trusting in, Relying on, and Cleaving to YHVH alone through His provision…the sacrificed Lamb of God who took your sin debt upon Himself… I hope this has helped. May the Lord make Himself and His will known to you and speak to you through His word…Amen Brother Paul
