Neither it is a salt.
no they're not

Something that is homogenous is the same throughout. Is chocolate chip ice cream the same all the way through or does it have chocolate chips inside the ice cream?
No. Sour cream and heavy cream have different functions, and produce different flavors. If you don't have sour cream or heavy cream handy, find a cheesecake recipe that doesn't call for them.
Nope. Sour cream has to do with One certain ingredient and Sour ice cream is like sour milk but the sour in the ice cream is the milk:)
yes. Sour cream is made by adding live yogurt cultures to heavy cream and leaving it at room temp for a few days. You can either add some plain yogurt to your cream and leave it out for a few days, or you can add a touch of lemon juice to your recipe with the heavy cream. Personally, I substitute plain yogurt for the lower fat content, and it tastes the same.
Yes it can be substituted. Heavy creams are better avoided even if we need to compromise with the taste, talking from the health point of view. the amount OS heavy cream is less in sour cream, and the combination of sour cream to the pasta gives it a new unusual tinge which is very appealing. but u need to plan well ahead as preparation of sour cream takes near abt 24 -25 hours. enjoy.
Sour cream is about the same density of water. 5 litres of sour cream is about 5,000 gm
yes i guess why not both are cream. one is sour cream and the other is light sour cream it might taste different but its the same thing.but i think sour cream is better because it has more taste
because it is the same principal
Through a fermentation process. A good example would be to find a recipe using sour cream; it will probably explain how to make the cream sour. If a recipe calls for sour cream (or sour milk) add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar and leave until it sours. You can also buy sour cream at the supermarket.
no. typically, whipping cream has more sugar in it.
8 oz cream cheese + 1/4 c heavy cream+ 2 1/2 T. sour cream
you wont get the same taste from using double cream instead of sour cream and the consistency might be a bit off.
the solid mass are the proteins in the milk reacting with the acidic vinegar. Sour cream is made in the same way by adding lemon juice (acid) to heavy cream. The acid will react with the protein in the cream and thicken it.
