People who 'need' a partner to be a certain height/weight/class/colour/whatever aren't worth having as a partner.
"Real" people see beyond the outside.
However, at a young age it can take a lot of courage for males and females to be seen with someone who is quite a lot taller or shorter than they are. Kids being kids, their friends will tease them greatly for it. But it can be handled if their prepared to stick out the first few days.
