Powdered sugar, icing sugar and confectioners sugar are all the same thing. It is usually known as icing sugar in England and powdered sugar in the USA. Confectioners sugar is used as an international name.
These are the same thing. Powdered sugar, icing sugar, and confectioners sugar are just different names for sugar than has been ground to a fine powder so that it dissolves very easily.

You can use egg whites and powdered sugar to create an icing. If you want a runny icing just add more egg whites, if you want a thicker icing use more sugar. Make sure you buy pasteurized egg whites.

Yes. Icing sugar is also called confectioner's sugar, icing sugar mix, or powdered sugar and is made of very finely powdered refined sugar and a small amount (about 3%) of starch (used as an anti‐caking agent) in most English‐speaking countries.

Pure icing sugar contains no added starch.

Normally yes... However, some powdered sugars have a tiny amount of cornstarch added to prevent the sugar "clumping". Whereas standard icing sugar never has added cornstarch. For most baking purposes they are interchangeable, but it's worth checking the box if you're baking for anyone with Allergies.

No. You can't replace either with each other. Caster sugar will not make icing and icing sugar will not be very good in a cake.

Will icing sugar and white sugar work the same way for icing?

No. Icing sugar is very finely ground, like a powder, so it dissolves in the butter and makes the frosting smooth. White sugar has little granules and if you use it in frosting your frosting will be grainy and crunchy.

Can you use an icing sugar in place of sugarveil confectionery icing for sugar lace ing?

When greasing and sugaring a pan do you use powdered or granulated sugar?

I always use powdered. I've never used granulated, but powdered has always worked well and granulated doesn't seem like it would work.

Can you replace superfine sugar for powdered sugar?

Powdered sugar has a buffering agent in it that keeps it fluffy and prevents lumps. This means that powdered sugar has a finer texture but doesn't work well in clear drinks, as they won't remain clear, even when the sugar dissolves. Superfine sugar is pure sugar, intended to dissolve easily. It does however have a slightly crunchier texture. So, if you don't mind the texture change, you can substitute superfine when the recipe calls for powedered sugar, but not the other way around.

Recipe calls for powdered sugar that i do not have can i use something else?

I don't think many recipes that need powdered sugar would work with a substitute, but you can make powdered sugar if you have a food processor. Put granulated sugar in the food processor and a little corn starch (about one teaspoon of corn starch to one cup of sugar). Run the food process for several minutes checking periodically to see if the sugar is fine enough. When it's powdery you can use it in your recipe.

Can you substitute 10x powdered sugar for 4x powdered sugar?

It is a reference to the fineness of the grain size. The bigger the number the finer the grain, eg:10X is finer than 4X. I believe that 14X is as high as it goes, though I'm not 100% sure. This fineness rating is generally irrelevant to the home baker. In fact, most icing sugar in grocery stores doesn't display it's fineness rating. If you're making whipped cream and you can find different grades pick up the finest one, it will dissolve easiest, giving you silky smooth whipped cream! :)

Can you substitute splenda for powdered sugar?

Personally I would not. Powdered sugar and Splenda have two unique and different textures and tastes, meaning that you should follow the recipe; if it calls for using powdered sugar to make something and not to dust or to top it with. However instead of topping something in powdered sugar I would use Splenda, even though I believe it is not the best thing for you, instead of powdered sugar since it has no calories-I mean why should you make something that is weighed down in saturated fat and calories even worse for you by adding more sugar that is just finer? I would always add Splenda since it has 0 calories and fat.EDIT: There are easons other than calories to use Splenda-- ever hear of diabetes? You can make your own powdered Splenda-- For every 3/4 cup of Splenda, add 2 TBSP corn starch. Put into a blender and pulse until you have the correct consistency.

What is the difference between fondant icing and icing sugar?

Icing sugar is finely ground sugar, which when added to whisked egg whites makes Royal Icing. Royal Icing sugar is finely ground suger pre-mixed with dried, pasteurised egg white. This is good if you want to avoid the "risk" associated with raw eggs. However, the ratio of egg white to sugar is fixed and the only adjustment which can be made is to add water (or lemon juice/glycerine) to vary the texture.

Can you use powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar in unbaked recipes?

it depends on what you are making. some things it may not work, but others it should be ok. what are you making?

Can you Substitute regular sugar for confectioner's sugar?

Depends on the recipe. In some cases the larger grains of the sugar will ruin the texture and cause the mixture to not mix correctly, in other cases nothing will happen. If you are making a glaze out of confectioner's sugar and water, then regular sugar will not work.

Where to buy ready to roll icing?

Ready to roll icing, also known as fondant, is fairly easy to make. Mix in a bowl, one third cup of butter, one third cup of light corn syrup, one teaspoon of vanilla, one half teaspoon of salt until smooth. Next, mix in one pound of sifted powdered sugar. The fondant is now ready to roll. To change the color, add small amounts of food coloring. To change the flavor, replace the vanilla with other flavored extracts.
