Is it OK for a non-Catholic to wear a Catholic symbol such as a rosary?

The rosary is meant for prayer, it isn't jewelry. You could wear a cross necklace; and it is okay to wear a cross necklace if it is blessed too.
So the answer is NO. Most Catholics would be offended if you wear the Rosary, but not because you are not Catholic, but because the Rosary is NOT meant to be worn. Rosary beads are a sacred tool used for prayer and worship. They may be beautiful, but they are not to be worn as jewelry.
It is acceptable to wear a rosary only if you wear it out of devotion to Christ and Mary. It just so happens to appear to be jewelry. I wear my rosary only so i can have Mary close to my heart at all times, there is no doctrine of the Catholic Church forbidding it so as long as it is out of devotion and not for the sake of vanity then it is okay

The only time I have ever seen a habit worn normally is by a religious (priest, brother, nun, or sister). In this case, the rosary hangs from their belt on the side so that it is always within reach when you wish to pray. In this day and age, I have seen a few people wearing a rosary around their neck. As noted above, the rosary is NOT jewelry, if you wish to wear a rosary around your neck, I would recommend that you wear it under your clothing as many Catholics would be offended by people wearing a rosary as a necklace.

∙ 12y agoI would say it's "okay," but why would you want to? The Rosary is a symbol of praying to the Blessed Virgin Mary. With the exception of traditional Orthodoxy, no church besides the Roman Catholic Church believes in praying to departed saints such as Mary. If you don't believe in what the rosary stands for, why wear it? Just food for thought.
Roman Catholic AnswerI would think that wearing a rosary for anyone who is not a nun or friar in full habit with a habit rosary on their belt, would be extremely disrespectful to the Catholic religion. I was in a restaurant last year where a young man with black saucers screwed onto his earlobes was wearing a rosary around his neck. I spoke with the hostess and told her right up front, that if that young man waited on me, I was leaving; further I thought that his decorating himself with a rosary was not only in remarkably poor taste, but insulting to any Catholics who might be seated in that restaurant. It's really up to you. Technically, the cross of a rosary should never hang below the rest of the rosary, but if you feel closer to God through wearing the rosary, then it's up to you. As to does it look silly? No of course not. It may be a little out of the norm and for some people who strictly follow the rules, then they might freak a little, but it's not a bad thing to do. If you are worried about breaking the Catholic rules, then no you should not wear it, but just remember that most of the rules of the Church are made by man not God.To be quite honest though, and this is my personal view so please don't take it offensively, God is with us all of the time, so you really don't need to wear the rosary to feel like He is always with you, but i can understand if you want to do so for comfort reasons.Hope that helped ^^

Also, people wear those small ten beaded bracelet rosaries and I have never heard any criticisms against that.
