There is no problem putting a grille guard on a 2 wheel drive pickup truck or SUV. The quality manufacturers of grille guards like Westin or Go Rhino make each grille guard for the specific vehicle. The grille guards only weigh only about 30-40 pounds. This isn't enough weight to cause enough pressure on the front suspension and reduce the weight on the rear wheels.

If that S10 is a 4+2, it is rear wheel drive.
A lifted two wheel drive pickup
rear wheel drive or 4x4 capable
rear wheel drive or 4x4 capable
standard cab is aprox 118".
MINE IS 4-WHEEL DRIVE AND IT'S IN THE FUEL TANK
the c series is rear wheel drive and the k series is 4 wheel drive
Rear wheel drive vehicles are better able to deal with loads, that's why there are few, if any, front wheel drive pickup trucks, and zero front wheel drive commercial trucks.
what is it not doing
No
Usually not a wheel at all. It's usually fed from a pickup in the transmission.
