Some synagogues have made the covering of the head during services an option for each individual, or have dispensed with it entirely. In the synagogues, generally Orthodox or Conservative, where it is still the normal practice, the uncovering of the head while a service is in progress, if intentional, would be considered disrespectful toward the worship, and perhaps also toward others in attendance.
