NO! it's not considered a sin. and i have some friends who are happy it's not. :)
For an atheist, there is no sin in having a Christian friend. Nor should it ever be regarded as a sin for a Christian to have an atheist friend, a Muslim friend or, for example, a Buddhist friend. Surely the greater sin is for anyone to imagine that it is a sin to have friends who do not happen to share the same beliefs.
Lehm-ears Sin-drum [atleast how my family and friends and myself pronounce it!]
we are all loved by Jesus so are considered friends, and those of us who obey the commandments will share paradise with Him. even if we sin ,we can be forgiven if we only ask.

It depends what the sin is. It's one thing for your friends to throw a baseball through a window and shatter it and you taking the blame for them or not ratting them out because you care. But if it's something really serious... regardless that they are your friends, you should do the right thing. If it's serious, the student should turn them in. I understand that it's natural to want to be protective of your buddies, watch eachother's backs. And if the student feels like it's really none of his business and that its a personal issue of his friends, I can sympathize But if it's something that's hurting them or other people, it becomes your duty as a friend to right the wrong when they don't think they should have to.
cos*cot + sin = cos*cos/sin + sin = cos2/sin + sin = (cos2 + sin2)/sin = 1/sin = cosec
