Atually, you'd be surprised about how accidental it can be, and how often!
The short answer: Yes, it can be accidental!
Living with someone, i.e. marriage, for a long time, will condition a person to connect certain emotions to the partners name.
If these emotions surface with someone else, the mind triggers the name of a previous partner, without any thought or control, unless the person becomes self-aware of this and conditions his/her mind to break the emotions => name connection!
