Well, It is bad but it isn't one of the worst things that could happen to your Gerbil but you should definitely watch it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

What happens when you kill a Gila monster?

One of the main reasons gerbils have long tails is to give predators something to grab on to. If a hawk or fox caught a gerbil by the tail, the tail could break off and the gerbil could escape. Tail breakage is the number one medical concern for gerbils. It happens all the time because their bodies are MADE that way. If the tail starts to die even more, or it smells bad and has green pus, or the gerbil acts weird, you need to take him to the vet. Most gerbils recover from this with no problems. Your biggest worry would be infections. I saw this on yahoo answers.

What do you do when one of your gerbils tails is cut and the other gerbil keeps attacking it because of the blood?

Bandage the tail. Or separate them.

Can gerbils go in a hamster's wheel?

They can, but make sure it is one with a solid running surface, not one with 'bars', if that makes sense. The gerbil's tail can become trapped and damaged in those.

Can gerbils have babies after one year of age?

Yes. I have a friend and she has gerbils that are over one year old. They have had babies. In a gerbils lifespan gerbils have around 15 litters of babies.

What or some gerbil facts?

Not sure about the previous answer, but they sure as hell can't spell. :/ Gerbils make wonderful pets. They are mild tempered and it takes a lot to stress out a gerbil so much that it bites, making them easier to tame and better for children than things such as hamsters. Gerbils are also diurnal, so they are awake during the day unlike hamsters. Gerbils are desert animals and so use water more efficiently, resulting in less waste and less cage smell. Gerbil adults average about 4-5 inches in length with an equally sized furry tail, weighing an average of 2-4 ounces. They are curious creatures that come with many personalities and colors. Gerbils can never be held by the tail, since their tail will "deglove" and come off much like a lizard's tail. However, unlike a lizard, their tail does not grow back. Gerbils are surprisingly great parents! While the rodent world is plagued with bad raps for cannibalism, gerbils will only cannibalize their young if the pup is dead, their is a lack of resources or space, or they feel threatened. As long as you do not mind another litter, keeping dad in the tank is possible as well, as he will trade places with mom and watch the litter for a while! Gerbils technically cannot be albino. As of yet, there has been no albino gene discovered. However, you can have a red-eyed white gerbil. How is this possible? The red-eyed white is a result of two separate genes--one giving it red eyes and the other giving it a white coat--instead of one gene that works to make it albino. Hope you found this interesting--gerbils are fascinating critters!

How do gerbils move?

Gerbils move around by putting one leg in front of the other.

Do gerbils have unusual traits?

Gerbils are desert rodents, which coincidentally makes them wonderful pets! The lack of water in the deserts means that a gerbil will use its body water more resourcefully, resulting in less urination. This means the cage will stink less than a hamster or guinea pig! Gerbils have unique tails. While many people look at their tails and think mice, a gerbil's tail actually has a distinguishable tuft of fur at the end of it that gives it a graceful appearance. Their tails can also break off much like a lizards tail for self-defense and eluding enemies; however, their tail will not grow back. Gerbils are surprisingly great parents! Why should you purchase two gerbils gerbils of the same sex instead of one?

many animals especially gerbils enjoy company of their own kind and if you don't want baby gerbils the same sex keeps that from happening.

How do you tell if they are a boy or a girl?

All gerbils have a pinkish thing, that being their reproductive system, and a darker circle, which is their butt. The dark one is closer to the gerbil's tail .You can find them on the gerbils' underside. If the pink and dark holes are closer together, your gerbil is a female. If they are further apart, you have a male.

Do hamsters have long tails?

Yes. One species of hamster does have a 'long' tail. The Chinese hamster (often mislabelled the Chinese Dwarf hamster) has a tail that measures roughly 1inch, although this doesn't seem that long, it is when compared to other hamster species. All other hamsters have short tails - the length depending on what species they are. (eg Syrian, Russian Campbell's dwarf, Winter white dwarf or roborovski dwarf).

Why don't the running tail light work but the break light does on my 2001 Yukon XL?

Could be a bad bulb. The same bulb has two filaments, one for the tail lights and one for the brake lights.

Do gerbils see in black and white or in colour?

Yes. But most of the time when they are white they have red eyes orsometimes called pink eyes and if they have a black/brownish tail they can have black eyes. Just depends
