They do slow down your computer so whichever one you get, set for manual and scan o0nce a week-don't set on auto or it will scan in background at inoportune times. Also, do not have more than one. I would avoid Norton and McAfee like the plague-especially the latter. it likes to sneak in as part of a legit update, so if the scanner invades your computer without being selected, that makes it part of what it's trying to prevent.
