Doctors have a more stressful job, but certain types get paid a lot. Heart surgeons get paid 8000$ an hour. Nurses are just helpers, but still get paid some. If you are just starting off, a nurse would be a better choice.
Nurses are not "just helpers". Nursing and medicine are two different sciences. Neither science can function well without the other. Many nurses who have obtained masters degrees or doctorates are able to practice independently just as medical doctors can. Both jobs are very stressful and include making life or death decisions nearly constantly.
The answer to your question must come from yourself. It depends on what you want to do. I completed my pre-med education but discovered that doctors don't get to spend much time with their patients and are often only involved in the diagnosing of illnesses and prescribing treatments. Nurses actually perform the care and most treatments on the patients. I elected to obtain my nursing degree and license so that I could work directly with the patients. I find it much more rewarding since I am the one that spends the most time with the patients and gets to personalize their care.

No, doctors and nurses are not the same thing. A female doctor is still known as a doctor. Nurses can be men or women and the same is true for doctors. The training of a nurse and doctor is different and they should not be confused with each other.
