A whole frying chicken roasts just fine. Since fryers are usually smaller than roasting chickens, it doesn't take quite as long to roast one. Fryers are very tender birds so they are good when cooked in almost any manner.

Chickens raised for food are usually slaughtered between 42 to 50 days old, they have not exercised or had time to strengthen muscels which is why they are tender when eaten, hens that have lived a long (and happy) life will naturally be tougher, and are better slow cooked.

No, weather a chicken is fried or roasted makes no difference. there are however, free range chickens, and basicly that means that the chickens have room to walk around and arent stuck sitting in a little pin all the time.
