There are several things that can cause your 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse to overheat. A malfunctioning water pump or a blown head gasket should be the next things that are checked.
i have a 1994 eclipse with a 1.8 we replaced the head gasket and timeing belt now it sputters at low rpms an the check engine light is on what could be th problem ?
It's not hard, it's time consuming and requires special tools including torque wrenches and a special tool to tighten timing belt properly (V6 only).
If you have coolant in the oil, it will cause the rod and main bearings to fail.
change it....change it.....they are less then ten bucks, alot cheaper then a blown head gasket
Yours is the top picture. Just drain the coolant first. Be sure to clean the old gasket off real good.
You have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. STOPdriving this car immediately until you have it repaired. You will destroy this engine if you continue to run it.
Remove the transmission oil pan for access to filter. Replace filter, fluid, and gasket.

how do you replace the valve cover gasket on a 2002 mitubishi lancer
The therm is in the housing that connects to the lower radiator hose. It is right below the upper hose where it connects to the engine. You may have to remove the battery. There are 3 bolts connecting the L shaped gasket from the lower hose to the engine that need to be removed. Pull that gasket off and the therm is right there.
