Snow in December is uncommon in Ireland although last year we got up to 15 inches of it in some parts.

It snows just about every year in January and February, on many occasions being very heavy on the East coast. But the West Coast on the Atlantic is exposed to the Gulf stream which means it gets little snow.

It has snowed in Ireland this year. As for the rest of the year, it is only possible to forecast about 10 days ahead with any reliability. So it is impossible to say. It may snow in high areas, but as to whether there will be widespread snow, nobody can know.

Only the weather people can tell you that and despite what people think, it is not possible to accurately forecast weather more than 10 days ahead. It is also difficult to know where it might snow on a local basis. So keep looking at the weather forecasts and best of all, out your window and you will get your answer.

It snows in Ireland sometimes, but really heavy snowfalls are not very common. Ireland is about 53 degrees north of the equator, and in winter months northerly winds can come from the polar regions bringing very cold weather to Ireland and often that results in snow.

Irish weather is unpredictable and it is impossible to accurately forecast weather for more than 10 days ahead at any time, so that question is impossible to answer in the month of July. More often than not though, it does not snow at Christmas in Ireland.

It is only possible to reliably forecast weather for about 10 days ahead, so it is impossible to know for sure if it will snow in Cork this winter. All you can do is keep watching the weather forecasts from Met Éireann.
