Is it good or bad to hunt whales?

It is a controversial issue, Japan do whaling for research, but Sea Shepherd view it as commercial whaling which is illegal. Natives in Alaska had hunted whale for food. Whaling consider illegal in some area.

um i did a debate in year 7 about this topic that all whaling should be banned i was saying that this was true and my team argument was not all whaling should be banned but most this means commercial whaling should be banned and whaling don by tribes and for food may still continue.

Whaling is a bad thing because it has caused many species to become endangered, it takes mothers away from their calves causing distress and sometimes the death of the calf and the way they kill whales is cruel, they harpoon them then either wait for them to drown or the drag it up onto the beach and wait for it to die.

For some whales it takes over an hour for them to die so they suffer.
